Hungary with a Disability Card
Museum admission, transport concessions and provider discounts have different conditions. Confirm which rules apply to you.

Museums and EEA eligibility
The Croatian guide records free exhibition admission for visitors with disabilities who are EEA citizens and up to one companion at Hungarian licensed museums under the national museum rules. Special programmes and exceptional exhibitions can have separate conditions.
The Hungarian National Museum and Museum of Ethnography publish EEA-related eligibility conditions. Bring official proof of disability and identification; collect the relevant ticket at the desk.
Documents are important
Ludwig Museum lists free admission for a visitor with a disability and one companion, using a valid disability card or official national confirmation of status. House of Terror explicitly accepts an official disability card from the visitor’s home country; medical records are not a substitute for the card.
Other operators have their own rules
The Nyíregyháza Zoo price list records a combined tariff of 6,000 HUF for one visitor with a disability and one companion, compared with 8,000 HUF for a regular adult ticket per person. Acceptance of foreign documents should be confirmed.
The Miskolctapolca Cave Bath guide records a reduced full-day ticket of 3,800 HUF for 20 August–31 December 2026, compared with 8,500 HUF for a regular adult. Check the current period and accepted proof before travelling.
Transport and parking are separate
Do not treat domestic BKK or MÁV concessions requiring Hungarian documents as automatic visitor benefits. The Buda Castle Funicular excludes other concessions and documents normally used for free transport.
Check the official EU parking-card guidance and local signs. Street-parking concessions do not establish the same rules in public or private car parks.
Accessibility and general free days
An accessible route or visitor assistance does not establish a disability discount. Likewise, a museum’s general free day is available to everyone and is not a disability-card benefit. Check the exhibition and date you plan to visit.
